TET 2026 AT HAI DANG XANH | A Heartwarming Chung Cake-Making Festival

On the afternoon of February 6, 2026, Hai Dang Xanh STEM Preschool successfully hosted its annual Chung Cake-Making Festival under the theme “Spacious Tet – Golden Horse of Prosperity,” welcoming the participation of nearly 200 student families.

This annual event carries meaningful cultural and educational value, while also creating a space for families and the school to connect and walk together in each child’s developmental journey.

A Traditional Tet Atmosphere in a Modern Educational Environment

Amid the joyful spirit of the year-end season, the Hai Dang Xanh campus was beautifully decorated with peach blossoms, apricot flowers, calligraphy scrolls, and traditional symbols of Vietnamese New Year. The event was designed to help children experience Vietnamese Tet culture in a vivid and engaging way.

During the program, students participated in a variety of meaningful activities:

  • Writing Tet calligraphy wishes

  • Printing Dong Ho folk paintings

  • Playing traditional folk games

  • Performing spring-themed musical acts

  • Experiencing Banh Chung wrapping with their families

Through these activities, children not only learned about national traditions but also developed dexterity, patience, and teamwork skills.

Chung Cake Making – An Experiential Activity with Deep Educational Value

The Chung Cake Making activities was the highlight of the event. Under the guidance of teachers and with the support of parents, children directly participated in the traditional wrapping process.

This hands-on experience provided practical benefits:

  • Helping children better understand Vietnamese Tet customs

  • Strengthening fine motor skills

  • Encouraging teamwork

  • Creating meaningful family bonding opportunities

The presence of parents throughout the activity not only boosted children’s confidence but also reflected the strong partnership between families and the school in early childhood education.

Hai Dang Xanh – An Educational Environment that Honors Cultural and Family Values

With a holistic STEAM-oriented approach, Hai Dang Xanh consistently integrates modern educational methods with traditional Vietnamese values.

The Chung Cake Making Festival is not simply a seasonal celebration; it is part of the school’s educational philosophy — supporting children’s development of knowledge, skills, and character through authentic, hands-on experiences.

The participation of nearly 200 families stands as a testament to the trust and long-term partnership between parents and the school.

For preschool-aged children, the project is implemented in three basic steps: Project initiation, project implementation, and project closure. During the exploration process, children plan, execute, and manage their own experiential activities; the teacher’s role is only to guide and support them. At this stage, the child is the central figure, and with the teacher’s help, they independently solve a complex learning task, both theoretically and practically. Through this, they create their own products and can present them to others. This enhances their self-reliance and active participation in activities; it encourages and develops creativity, responsibility, teamwork skills, and especially the ability to think critically and solve complex problems.

This is an engineering design process that allows children to create simple devices such as gadgets, toys, or learning tools according to their needs and desires, under the guidance and support of teachers and classmates. It helps children solve problems in their lives.

This learning model helps children focus on the learning process, be proactive and collaborative, and provides challenges appropriate to their age and ability to explore and discover. It encourages them to surpass themselves and persevere.
